In Mustang, we value fine arts and believe they are essential to the learning process. Music and visual art are a required part of the district's curriculum for all students in Pre-kindergarten through 4th grade. Our elementary fine arts programs provide a safe and supportive culture in which students engage with authentic arts experiences essential to creativity, learning and personal experiences. Each year, students build capacity in their understanding of the elements and principles while exploring and connecting to various world cultures.

Circle the State with Song is a statewide choral festival for Oklahoma elementary and middle school students in grades 4 through 8 with unchanged voices. Sponsored by the Oklahoma Music Educators Association (OkMEA), this program provides a unique opportunity for young singers to come together from across the state to learn and perform a diverse repertoire that often includes folk songs, spirituals, and music from other cultures.
Students begin preparing the repertoire at their schools in the fall, and then gather at regional festival sites for a day of rehearsal with a guest clinician. The experience culminates in a community concert showcasing their unified choir singing challenging and enriching music. Circle the State with Song fosters musical growth, teamwork, and provides students early exposure to high-level choral performance in a supportive environment.
This festival is designed to build and strengthen vocal music programs in Oklahoma elementary schools while inspiring young musicians through collaboration and quality music education.
